Shawna O'Handley
Shawna O’Handley brings a fun and light-hearted attitude to the sport of flyball. Keeping the focus on developing the human-canine connection Shawna makes everyone’s introduction to flyball an entertaining one. Whether you are hoping to compete successfully with your dog or simply want to explore an activity together, Sublime Canine Flyball provides a solid foundation.
Since she started training in 1999, Shawna has earned multiple titles on various breeds including an ONYX title on her Cocker Spaniel, Willow, an FDCH-G on her Border Collie Whip and a FDX on her All-Canadian, Whisper. Her newest training challenge has come in the form of a high-drive Jack Russell/Corgie mix named Widget, a rescue from the USA.
Shawna continues to build on her flyball expertise by frequently attending workshops hosted by the top teams in North America including Spring Loaded and Paws on Fire. She also ensures a safe practice environment by keeping her first aid skills up to date. She rounds out her dog sport experience by competing in Disc Dogs and participating in agility. Shawna has also strived to deepen her understanding of dog behaviour in general by attending various seminars hosted by local dog behaviour experts and participating in therapy dog work with Willow.
